TOAST USER ACCOUNTS

One of the largest feature releases my team worked on was building support for user accounts. I worked with product and development teams to design and implement this work in Q3 and Q4 of 2017. 

 

MY ROLE: Research, strategy, wireframes and design, usability testing as the sole designer within a team of 6-7 engineers and one product manager.

Workflows 

We brainstormed several workflows and edge cases of this feature with product and dev teams. I created these workflows to communicate functionality and requirements to the development teams.

User Testing

There were several rounds of user testing that occurred for this feature: 

  • Moderated user testing with paper prototypes

  • Moderated user testing with digital prototype

 The key findings from user testing were: 

  • Users preferred to sign up at the end of the workflow, after they've placed an order. "When i'm hungry, i don't want something getting in the way!"

  • Users want a single sign on via facebook or google.

  • Users found the email validation process cumbersome

  • Users found value in creating an account if it saved their orders, addresses, and payment methods.

  • Users liked incentives to sign up, ie: "Get $10 off your next order if you create an account!"
