BLOG REDESIGN
EnergySage has blog content that ranks highly in SEO, driving in a majority of organic traffic to their core marketplace offerings. Unfortunately, once users get to the blog page itself, they often struggle to navigate and find other information on the site. I worked with a visual designer and content writer to redesign and re-architect our blog experience. This work had many eyes on it, and required extensive stakeholder management
MY ROLE: UX designer
This work occurred over a 3 month effort with a visual designer and the marketing team. This project involved:
Heuristic evaluation of existing blog site and competitive research.
Information architecture working sessions to create a navigation structure which would reveal our breadth of knowledge.
Ideation workshop with key stakeholders to identify project goals, design patterns, and key templates to prioritize in design work
Coordinating with an external engineering agency to implement the work.
Period design reviews with key stakeholders.
Designing templates to accommodate diverse forms of content for our marketing and content team to create and scale.
Existing Blog Site
The existing blog page was simply an article feed and there was no way for users to search for any articles. The existing blog post template didn’t offer any way for users to navigate within long-form content. All-in-all, it was a usability nightmare.
Proposed Designs
The proposed designs added hierarchy, clarity, and ease of navigation for the user.
