Toast X

The Toast POS product has been in dire need for a redesign. Several UX issues consistently force users to invent workarounds to the product. Our entire UX team jumped into a three day design hackathon together come up with a design proposal to pitch the new Toast X to the company. 

 

MY ROLE: Design strategy, pitch planning, wire framing, and prototyping with a team of 5 other designers.  


Our Goals

  1. Reduce number of taps, streamline workflows and optimize for efficiency

  2. Make menu hierarchy and navigation more intuitive; reduce cognitive load

  3. Respect muscle memory and respect touch targets to avoid fat-fingering

  4. Introduce a design language to make our product stand out against competitors

  1. New UI is 29% faster (less number of taps) on the menu page and modifier page

  2. Improved layout for complex menu structures

  3. Splitting payments is 66% faster
